LVOT- Left Ventricular Outflow Track


Left Ventricular Outflow Track is the passage where the blood flow out from left ventricle to Aorta.
This is one of the structure we should look for when we do fetal heart scan. Why is it so important? because when we manage to get this view, it mean the fetus is free from TGA..
for the normal fetal heart, LVOT is suppose to be from Left Ventricle to aorta but when there is a transposition of great arteries (TGA), what happen is, instead of going to aorta, it is connected to pulmonari artery as you may seen in the diagram below (credit to wikipedia).. about the TGA, do click on the link to read in wikipedia..
